TCS Weekly Update3-8-2018

Dear Thomaston Center School Families,

The old adage, “March comes in like a lion…” seems to be proving true this year and we have had a few postponements to show for it! Our One School, One Book celebration was originally planned for last Friday, March 2, will now be held this Friday, March 9.  We are excited to share in the celebration with students from Thomaston High School as well.  Our “Look for the Good” program launch that was scheduled for yesterday will also be postponed.  Rest assured, however, that although these programs were delayed, they will still be commemorated as planned.

Last Sunday, March 4, 2018, approximately eighty choral students represented Thomaston Center School at the annual St. Jude’s telethon.  Under the direction of Ms. Kate Zitnay, the students performed amazingly well.  We are so proud of these students.  Thank you to all of the families who supported this program.  The band students are now preparing for a spring concert at the end of this month.  The concert will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.  Please click on this link for more information: Band Concert Information

We would like to wish Cierra O’Sullivan the best of luck, as she will be representing Thomaston Center School in the CT Spelling Bee this Saturday at the University of St. Joseph in West Hartford.  This is Cierra’s second time competing in this event.  We are very proud of her!

We continue to solidify our safety and security measures, particularly regarding visitors to our school. We want to thank all of you for understanding and complying with our requests. As we continue to work to insure safety of students and staff, you will be updated. At this point, we have some important security-related requests:

  1. When you need to bring medication to the school for the nurse, please call Mrs. Aniki ahead of time so she can list you as an expected guest.
  1. When you need to pick up your child for an unplanned reason, family emergency, last minute appointment, etc., please contact the main office prior to your arrival so we know to expect you.
  1. When you enter the school via the first or second door at the main entrance, please do not allow anyone else to come through the door with you. We understand that this often happens because other people coming in are friends or neighbors; however, each party (and their children) need to be allowed in separately.

Thank you in advance for helping us maintain a safe environment.  As always, we appreciate your support of your child’s education.
