TCS News 4-5-18

Dear Thomaston Center School Families,

We have so much information to share this week!

Last Thursday, Ms. Lubans, school counselor at Thomaston High School, met with sixth grade students about course selection for next year.  At that time, sixth grade families received information about this process and registration is now due.  Questions about Thomaston High School course selection should be directed to Ms. Lubans at Thomaston High School at [email protected].

On Friday, April 6, 2018 at 8:30 am in the auditorium, the Thomaston Center School community will convene for another Character Assembly.  The focus for April is “trustworthiness” and students will be examining what it means to demonstrate trustworthiness.  If you would like to attend the Character Assembly, please notify Mrs. Webster at [email protected] by the end of the day today so she may include you on the visitor log.

In physical education and in WIN PE classes, students are busy working on fitness goals.  Please encourage your child to practice stretching, crunches, and running as much as possible.  Results from these assessments will be sent home this month.

Thomaston Center School has raised $4,399.00 for the American Heart Association with our annual Hoops for Heart event.  Thank you to all of the families who contributed to this worthy cause.  We are so proud of our collective efforts!

Tickets are now available for purchase at our box office for Lion King Jr.  The performance will be on May 17 and May 18, 2018 at the Thomaston Opera House.  Tickets are $10 each and there is assigned seating. You may purchase the tickets online at: or you can call the Box Office 860-283-6250. The Box Office is open Monday through Friday from 1-6pmand Saturdays 1-4pm.

As a reminder, this week is an A week.   Therefore, Mrs. McAtee’s class, Mr. McMahon’s class, and Mrs. Knowlton’s class will have physical education when they have specials tomorrow.  Mr. Grabherr’s class, Mrs. Rozzi’s class and Mrs. Lascko’s class will have library-media when they have specials tomorrow, and Mr. Dwan’s class, Ms. Fuller’s class, and Mrs. Protzmann’s class will have music when they have specials tomorrow.     Because of the Character Assembly, there is no WIN and no Academy this week.

Please claim all lost and found items by Friday, April 13, 2018.  Clothing not claimed from the beginning of the year will be donated during the April vacation.

The third marking period closes on April 13, 2018 but grades will not be finalized for the third marking period until after the school vacation.

As a reminder to families who drive their children to school:  students must enter the auditorium door but as the weather grows warmer, students can be dropped off on the sidewalk at 8:00 am to help alleviate traffic congestion in the morning.  Also, if your child is being picked up by car at 4 pm, please do not block the front entrance in front of the school, as this is where our late bus must pull up to collect our students.  Instead, we ask that you park on the side lot and meet your child in the front of the school.  Thank you for helping us to keep our students safe.

As a reminder, dismissal today is at 12:30 for Parent-Teacher conferences.

Thank you for your continued support of your child’s education.
