Dear Thomaston Center School Families,
As we approach the end of May, our thoughts turn to the many events planned for the end of the year. Please be sure to turn in any permission slips for field trips or end of the year activities that may be sent home. We appreciate your help with this matter. On Friday, we will have our last Academy class of the year as there are several end of the year activities on Fridays.
Today our fourth grade class will take a trip back in time to visit our Thomaston Historical Society. This event is part of the ongoing fourth grade study of Thomaston in their Social Studies classes.
Thank you to the students and families that donated to the “Stronger than Cancer” fundraiser that was held last week. Together we collected more than $320.00 for this CT Kid Governor program. Funds will used to help support children with cancer and we are proud to be part of this program.
It is not too late to share your thoughts with Center School by completing the anonymous parent survey. To complete the survey, click on: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TCS18. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!
As a reminder, Ms. Christine Ieronimo, author of A Thirst For Home: A Story of Water Across the World, will be visiting Center School onJune 11, 2018. Should you wish to purchase a paperback copy of this book to have Ms. Ieronimo sign, you may order it by visiting:https://shop.scholastic.com/teachers-ecommerce/teacher/books/a-thirst-for-home-9781338050530.html or through Amazon (hardcover). Ms. Ieronimo will also have limited copies of signed books for $5.00 should you wish to purchase them as well. We are grateful to the Thomaston PTA for providing this opportunity for the author to visit our students.
On Monday, school will be closed in honor of Memorial Day as we pause to remember the men and women of the armed forces. We wish you an enjoyable long weekend!
Thank you for your continued support in your child’s education.
