Dear Thomaston Center School Families,
The second marking period is off to a productive start! On Monday, grade four toured the local Seth Bradstreet House as part of their study of Thomaston history. Tuesday brought forth many rich civic discussions on the importance of exercising the right to vote and the democratic process, while Wednesday and Thursday provided opportunities to meet with teachers and students. Today, students will participate in our annual Junior Achievement’s “JA for a Day” program. Throughout the day, parent volunteers will present lessons focused on financial literacy and the global economy. We are grateful to our volunteers for taking the time to be with us today. Tomorrow, Friday, November 9, is a full day of school and we will have visitors from the Susan B. Anthony Project meet with our students. Friday afternoon we will launch our One School, One Book novel. By all accounts, it has been a very busy week!
Next Monday, November 12, we pause to celebrate and honor all the men and women who served in our military. School is closed on Monday for our Veterans Day holiday. Next Thursday, November 15, 2018, our sixth grade class will present an Evening of World Drumming. It will be held at 7 pm in the Thomaston Center School gymnasium. All are invited to attend.

Thank you to all of the families who attended—or will attend later today—our conferences. Please be reminded that we are available throughout the year to meet or discuss any concern you may have about your child’s educational experience. There is no need to wait for our formal conference time.
As always, we appreciate your support of your child’s education.
