Type-To-Learn 4 Information

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Who would have ever dreamed that Kindergarten students would be learning how to use a computer? As technology changes and computers become simpler, they become more and more utilized in education.  State testing is now often done on computers, so students, are required to take tests by computer. The input of their knowledge in writing therefore becomes integral to testing accuracy. We at Thomaston Public Schools are committed to improving our student’s ability to input their ideas and answers (Computer and Keyboarding Skills).

Beginning at first grade, our students will have access to a keyboarding program at school and at home. “Type-To-Learn 4” is the program’s name and each student at Black Rock and Center school will be using it in Technology Education Classes (Computers).  This program can greatly enhance our student’s ability to keyboard. Presently, as you know our students get computer class (T.E.) once a week, by working from home or the library we should see a marked improvement.  This Program is now supported from a, “Cloud” so student’s progress is reported back to us at school. Each student can work at their own pace so there is no need to worry what level your child is on, the computer will track their progress.

This program is computer memory intensive, (it requires one Gigabit) of space, please check the equipment requirements before you download it to your computer. You don’t need to be frustrated nor does your child. Attached to this letter should be a letter from Sunburst with all the pertinent information to download this program.

The logins for grades 1 through 6   are; first initial of student’s first name followed by their last name.  Password for everyone grade 1-6 student is “welcome
