TCS Weekly Update 3-30-2017

Dear Thomaston Center School Families,

We have so much information to share this week!

On Monday, Mr. Malo, school counselor at Thomaston High School, met with sixth grade students about course selection for next year.  At that time, sixth grade families received information about this process.  All information should be completed by Friday, March 31, 2017.  Questions about Thomaston High School course selection should be directed to Mr. Malo at Thomaston High School (smalo@thomastonschools.org).

As part of our character initiatives focusing on citizenship, we are collecting hygiene products for the Thomaston Food Pantry.  Donations of soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, powder… anything one would use to keep clean are requested! However, please do not send in glass containers.  Items should be delivered to Mrs. Aniki’s office by Friday, April 7, 2017.  Special thanks to Mrs. Aniki for coordinating this effort.

This Friday, March 31, 2017, will be a WIN Day.  Advanced Band students need to bring instruments to school.

District Music Day is next Thursday!   Permission slips for performers were sent home earlier this month and are due back by tomorrow, Friday, March 31, 2017.  All are invited to attend the District Music Day performance next Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Thomaston High School; musicians from Black Rock School, Thomaston Center School, and Thomaston High School will be sharing their musical gifts and talents with us.  It is sure to be a memorable evening!

Please claim all lost and found items by the end of the week.  Clothing not claimed from the beginning of the year will be donated during the April vacation.

The third marking period closes on April 7, 2017 but grades will not be finalized for the third marking period until after April 19, 2017 due to the school vacation.

As a reminder to families who drive their children to school:  students must enter the auditorium door but as the weather grows warmer, students can be dropped off on the sidewalk at 8:00 am to help alleviate traffic congestion in the morning.  Also, if your child is getting picked up by car at 4 pm, please do not block the front entrance in front of the school as this is where our late bus must pull up to collect our students.  Instead, we ask that you park on the side lot and meet your child in the front of the school.  Thank you for helping us to keep our students safe.

Finally, please click on this link for the latest edition of our school newsletter, In the CenterIn The Center April 2017 We hope you find this information useful to you.

Thank you for your continued support of your child’s education.

Sincerely,

Kristin Bernier
