Dear Thomaston Center School Families,
For the past few years, Thomaston Center School has participated in a program that teaches entrepreneurial skills and financial literacy. The program is delivered by local volunteers but the curriculum is designed and funded through Junior Achievement. In the past, the “JA in a Day” program has been highly engaging and very successful at Thomaston Center School.
The JA in a Day program relies upon parent volunteers. The commitment is minimal but the rewards are great! This year there is a training session on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 5:30-6:30 in the TCS Media Center. The event is held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 8:20-12:15. Lunch is also provided to all volunteers on November 9. All program materials and training are provided by Junior Achievement. Volunteers facilitate the lessons that are presented in the training kits and at the training session. The training kit provides an easy, step-by-step lesson plan to follow and teachers remain present throughout the program to help provide classroom management support.
At this time, we are in need of several volunteers, particularly in grades four and five. We are looking to have at least two parent volunteers in every class. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact me at email@example.com. For information about each program, please click on the link for the grade four, JA grade 4 five, JA grade 5 and sixth grade JA grade 6 programs that will be offered through the JA for a Day program. For more information about Junior Achievement, please visit the website at: http://jaconn.org/about-ja
We hope you will consider volunteering for this worthwhile program. As always, we appreciate your interest and support of your child’s education.
