TCS Weekly Update 10-12-2017

Dear Thomaston Center School Families,

This has been another eventful and wonderful week!  Thank you to all of the families who participated in the Wonder Family event on Tuesday.  We hope you enjoyed sharing in the fun as much as we did!!

Yesterday, the Thomaston Fire Department visited Center School to commemorate Fire Prevention Week.  Members of the fire department reminded students of the importance of emergency preparedness but they also had an amazing time using the fire hose and seeing the trucks.  The event was both educational and enjoyable for all.  We are extremely grateful for their service.

Academies will begin tomorrow!  Students will be attending the Academies every other Friday.

As a reminder, this week is an A week.  Therefore, Mrs. McAtee’s class, Mr. McMahon’s class, and Mrs. Knowlton’s class will have physical education when they have specials tomorrow.  Mr. Grabherr’s class, Mrs. Rozzi’s class and Mrs. Lascko’s class will have technology education when they have specials tomorrow, and Mr. Dwan’s class, Ms. Fuller’s class, and Mrs. Protzmann’s class will have music when they have specials tomorrow

Next week, students will be visiting the book fair between October 18, 2017 until Haunted Hallways on October 21, 2017.  Haunted Hallways will take place on Saturday, October 21 from 4-8 pm.   Our Creepy Chorus and Zombie Band will be performing at the Haunted Hallways at 4 pm on Saturday.  Chorus permission slips are due tomorrow to Mrs. Zitnay.  Please come out and join us next week for a frighteningly good time!

We are still in need of “JA for a Day” volunteers for grade five on November 9, 2017; if you ae interested, please email me at   A training session will be held on October 25, 2017 at 5:30 pm in the Center School Media Center.

After school math support will be available on Tuesdays for grades 4 and 5 and on Thursdays for grade 6.  We will begin this program on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 and Thursday, October 19, 2017.  Students may sign up on the morning they wish to stay for help and may also sign up for the late bus at that time.  Please be sure to bring in a note indicating your child has permission to stay after school.

As a reminder, please discuss your child’s after school plan with your child.  If your child needs to ride the late bus, he/she needs to sign up prior to 12:45 so the bus company can plan a route accordingly.  Changes in dismissal procedures and early dismissals must be done in writing via note or fax.  The fax number is 860-283-3048.

As always, we appreciate your support and interest in your child’s education.
