Dear Thomaston Center School Families,
We have been working hard at the business of learning at Thomaston Center School! In an effort to provide more effective communication and to share information on how we are meeting academic needs of our students, we will be sending home periodic curricular updates to families on a grade level basis. These updates will include information on what skills and content students are working on in each of the classes on the grade level as well as offer suggestions for families on how they may help support their child at home.

We are pleased to announce the sixth grade class will be participating in the CT Invention Convention program through the science and technology education classes. The Intent-to-Invent forms are due today to Mrs. Knowlton and Mr. Craig. Students may access the information for the program through the Google Classroom site. The class code is ie6poo.
As the temperature outside continues to drop, please have your students ready for the cold weather. Students should come to school dressed appropriately for the season with coats, hats, and gloves for outdoor recess; we generally go out for recess if the temperature greater than 25 degrees, taking the wind chill into account. Also, it is a good idea to have students bring a sweater or sweatshirt for classroom use as the temperature in our older building tends to fluctuate a bit depending on the room.
As a reminder, if a delay is called due to inclement weather, it will be a two hour delay and school will begin at 10:05 am. If an early release day is called, dismissal is at 12:30 pm. There is no recess, WIN, or Academies on delay or early dismissal days. If an early dismissal is called, there is no late bus or after school activities. Please take the time to communicate with your child his/her after school plans in the event of a change of school day due to weather. We greatly appreciate your help in this matter.
This week is an A week. Therefore, Mrs. McAtee’s class, Mr. McMahon’s class, and Mrs. Knowlton’s class will have physical education when they have specials tomorrow. Mr. Grabherr’s class, Mrs. Rozzi’s class and Mrs. Lascko’s class will have technology education when they have specials tomorrow, and Mr. Dwan’s class, Ms. Fuller’s class, and Mrs. Protzmann’s class will have music when they have specials tomorrow.
Tomorrow is also an Academy day; band students will not need their instruments. Students who are in Mrs. Larson and Mrs. Zitnay’s Academy will be taking a trip to the Thomaston Town Hall during Academy. If your students is involved in this project, please remember to dress appropriately for the short walk across the street.

All are welcome to attend the performance and share in the fun! A school wide dress rehearsal will be held in the afternoon of December 19, 2017.
As always, we appreciate your interest and support of your child’s education.
